"Right..."

Red began to move towards the doors, stepping over the almost-dry puddle of blood. Zero leaned forward to sniff at it and drew back sharply, moving uneasily to Red's feet. The doors were gray with age and unwelcoming as ever.

Letting her palm lay on the cool metal, she gave it a push; frowning as it wouldn't budge after a few more tries. Turning to her side; shoulder facing the door, Red threw herself against it, using most of her weight. Stumbling inside, the metal door swung open and crashed noisily against the wall and creaked in protest.

Red poked her head out and grinned sheepishly at Blaze.

"Hope I didn't wake anything. Are you coming?"

Stumbling after her clad in a red and white suit Blaze clutches his side while his other hand reaches for the magnum in his jacket. Smirking as he pulls it out, he looks to Red quickly.

"Gladly. As soon as this bleeding stops I'll be happy. But for what it's worth, I think I'll keep this out. Never know what's lurking around the next corner right?"

Slowly limping after her and her animal companion, Blaze followed her letting his sheathed saber smack against his leg as he kept his gun in his free hand, ready for a fight if one broke out.

She glanced at the gun once and turned around. Turning left, to the east wing, Red guided him through the eerie hallway. Fluorescent light bulbs flickered on and off, hanging from the cracked ceiling; held by a wire.

The walls had dried blood splattered all over it, and the ground had a bloody trail, as if someone was being dragged. Handprints, claw marks... The doors to the hospital rooms were either ajar or completely wide open; the syringes and other dusty medical supplies scattered over the floor.

This wasn't new to Red. It seemed to bring back painful memories.

Red had to push overturned metal tables out of the way and help Blaze climb over other useless shit. Zero easily slipped through the smallest spaces, taking advantage of his small size.

They passed "out-of-order" elevators, the "up" switch barely torn out from the wall. Bones and leaves that were blown in from the broken windows crunched under her feet, making the only sound in the hallway.

"This way," she murmured quietly, taking a right, entering a smaller hallway. At the end, was a closed white door. The hallway was lit by a dim light bulb that began to flicker, threatening to die out.

Zero bounded ahead, waiting for the two to catch up. As they reached the door, Red turned the rusty knob and clicked. With a soft push, the door seemed to open itself all the way, with no help what so ever. A rush of cold air was released, showering Red with goosebumps. Inside was pitch black, not one trace of light.

Red turned to face Blaze, and smiled.

"Enter."

Following his companion, Blaze couldn't help but notice Red's incredible knowledge and perception of the hospital. Limping along and seeing the trail of blood on the ground, Icy shook his head at the sight and the thoughts he had. Being in the abandoned halls unnerved the 18 year-old blademaster, but nevertheless he kept his gun in hand and his head held high until he reached the darkened room. Looking to Red, he speaks before walking to the room he was ordered to enter

"You got it. This place gives me the creeps."

Red followed him inside and felt along the walls for the light switch. Finding it, she fumbled with it for a moment, switching it on and off with no result. The bulb refused to turn on. She cursed under her breath and walked slowly to the other side of the room, careful not to trip over anything because of the darkness.

"The lights won't work. I'll try and find a candle, see if there's any left..."

The female reached her hand out in front of her and felt the surface of the cool, metal file cabinet. Forcing it to open, it squeaked unpleasently from age. Instead of files, inside were things stored for Red's and Zero's survival. She felt around the object, and her fingers closed around a skinny, waxy cylinder. Red didn't find a lighter or any matches, and cursed again.

She felt along the walls and stopped at another door, turning the knob and letting it open slowly.

"Blaze? Do you mind doing me a favor? Inside this room," She pulled him over to show where, unless he couldn't see it in the dark, "there are rolls of gauze inside a wooden cabinet. Don't go near the metal ones."

Plunged in darkness Icy frowns unable to find anything on the inside. Looking around he can barely see his hand in front of his face. Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a metallic prism from it. Opening it he bathes his face in a soft orange glow as a flame ignites from his lighter. Looking to Red he smirks before extending it to her.

"Sure. The sooner I put my hands on that, the better."

Putting the lighter in her hand, Blaze walks a bit having a vague idea of where the doorway was. Walking through it he waits until he feels a change in texture. Feeling it after groping in darkness he smiles as he begins to feel through the cabinet of medical supplies. Before taking the roll of gauze, he curses after accidentally injecting himself with some sort of needle. Frowning he took the unsanitary needle putting it in the suit jacket pocket, colored by dried blood, before beginning to wrap the gauze around the wound.

She thanked him and ignited the candle, the room bathed in a flickering, orange glow. Red tilted the candle over so that the wax dripped on top of the metal cabinet and stuck the candle onto it; the wax holding it in place. You could slightly make out the outline of furniture and hospital beds; casting unnerving shadows.

Retrieving two other twin candles and a candle holder, she lit them and stuck one in the holder, setting it on the table next to the bed. The bright orange light glistened on Zero's orange fur. Red reached down to scratch behind his ear and he purred happily. Red's own hair was like a flame of its own.

She pulled off the sunglasses on her face, and her iris's were an acidic green that grew even brighter by the flames light. What a shocking, even dangerous, sight it was. Her eyes caused chaos and insanity to her targets. Even death. Her targets only being anyone who is a threat in any kind. She was sure to face away from the door, the acidic orbs focused in the center of the flame.

Would it scare the boy? Hah. Red didn't even have to ask herself, for she was not planning to reveal this secret.

Walking back out weakly, Blaze smiles now above to make out a majority of the room. With his icy irises almost seeming violet when mixed with the reddish flame, he looks around to Red with a smile, unable to see her poison colored eyes. Waving one of his hands a bit after unintentionally stabbing it, he notices the sunglasses off of Red's ears. Chuckling a bit, Blaze addresses the woman.

"Well, finally sick of seeing even more darkness Red?"

Having her concentration broken, Red jumped back at Blaze's voice, momentarily forgetting he was even there at all. Startled, Red regained her composure and cleared her throat, slipping the sunglasses back on. The room took on a darker shade then before, sadly... She decided to ease around his comment by not replying at all, and instead; changed the subject.

"Your hand..." She was facing him, brows knitted together in confusion. Red noticed his hand and what seemed like little holes.

Chuckling a bit, Icy still waved his hand up and down a bit noticing how quickly she replaced her sunglasses, and in a dark room. Shrugging, Blaze figured it best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Holding out the syringe with his free hand the young male frowns at his stupidity as he speaks.

"Regrettably I may have unintentionally used one of your needles Red. I couldn't really see what I was doing and injected myself."

She tensed and quickly moved to snatch the syringe out of his hand and held it near the light, peering at it. Red sighed in relief and chuckled weakly, tossing the syringe in the wastebasket. Zero leapt onto the hospital bed, wrinkling his nose.

"Well, you'll be uconscious in a few minutes. For how long? Three hours, maximum," Red stated, making a simple gesture to the wastebasket.

"Be glad that wasn't oleander, or you'd be dead by now." She said matter-of-factly, moving over to the window. Or...what used to be a window.

Instead of glass panes, it was black-painted bricks. It was there to block out any light, and of course, the zombies and hybrids. From the outside, it would look like a normal wall. Red sat on the windowseat, leaning her head against the bricks. Zero darted from the bed to curl into Red's lap, purring.

Astonished by what she said, Blaze's eyes widened reflecting as much of the dim light as possible. Not expecting to become unconscious his panic forced him to take Red's shoulders, but only for a moment before his eyes began to close. Weakening his grasp, the muscles in Icy's face seem to relax, then the rest of his body before he falls to the ground with a massive thud, dislodging the saber at his side from its sheath. Still mostly lodged inside, a small bit of silver can be seen from the small piece of the blade that protruded. Motionless, the male with jet black hair lay on the ground in the same state he was found in.

Red calmly looked at him as he grabbed a hold of her shoulders, then eventually; fell. Blaze at her feet, she noticed his relaxed expression. Peaceful, like a child. Zero sprang from her lap and landed next to the saber, circling it then paused.

She tsked at him and lifted up her palm. Suddenly, as if fishing wires were tied to the Male, Blaze was lifted from the floor by an invisible force. That 'force', was from Red. If she used this ability on a human, they would simply feel a tug in their gut. He was floating on his back, his arms dangling limply, as his head. She motioned to the hospital bed and it obliged, slowly carrying the sleeping male with ease and gingerly setting him upon the bed.

Red shook her hand and the tugging vanished. She blew at her fingernails, thinking to herself, You just gotta love telekinesis...

The female picked up the saber by hand, examining it with a slight inkling of curiosity. She laid it on the table next to him and went to the other room that was connected to this one by a door. It was dark, with the exception for the candle holder she brought in with her. Setting it down, she curled onto the other bed, and clutched Zero close to her. Without realizing it, Red drifted off as well, after replaying the events of today.

After being knocked out, Blaze's eyes twitch a bit before a nasty headache rolls around. Feeling immense pain in his head, Icy notices he's still in the hospital, in a bed. He hadn't remembered much so all he could safely say was that Red was a very generous lady. Of course all thoughts about her vanished once he noticed his blade missing from its sheath. looking around frantic, Blaze calms down upon seeing his weapon of choice. Confused as to why it was unsheathed, the young male got up and sheathed the blade. making sure it was fully stowed away. Upon getting up however, his headache caused too much pain right now.

"Probably from those drugs yesterday. Maybe a bit more sleep would help."

Thinking for a moment, Blaze decides to replace his saber on the table before crawling back into the bed. 'Red's probably asleep.' He thought silently. 'I'll ask her what happened when my head doesn't eel like someone hit it with a sledgehammer.' And on that note, Icy fell asleep closing his blue eyes again after he made sure that his revolver was still on his person.

Red stirred and yawned loudly, reaching up to cover her eyes from the dim, flickering candlelight until then, she realized her sunglasses weren't on her anymore. Her eyes fluttered open and groggily muttered curse words to herself, shuffling through the bed and to the floor. By now, Red was on her knees, checking under the bed. Nothing.

Did it fall off when she dozed off? Well, it wouldn't have gone far, would it? Gah! How irritating.

But then she realized Zero wasn't here.

Lying in bed for a bit longer, Blaze eventually ran his fingers through his jet black hair, sheathed his blade, and cursed the syringe looking at the small puncture in his hand. As his white dress shoes clack against the ground, he walks over to Red to see if she was awake. Confused, Icy sees her on the ground, apparently looking for something. Getting on one knee he taps Red's shoulder gently to get her attention.

"Looking for something?"

Automatically, Red whipped out a knife from her left boot and whirled around to face the person who startled her. The knife was clasped tightly in her right hand and was positioned to slice its throat, the smooth surface glinting dangerously in the flickering candle light. The low light made her seem maniacal. A killer. What was worse, was her glaring acidic eyes.

Red's glare faltered, noting that it was Blaze who was behind her, not a zombie or a hybrid. She sighed and looked away, pinching the bridge of her nose in annoyance.

"You really got to stop doing that."

Astonished by what he saw, Blaze stood thee for a moment stupefied. Not by the knife at his throat, but the poisonous irises glaring at him. The acid colored eyes took him aback a moment and, after pushing the blade down gently by putting pressure on the flat side of the blade with his index finger, spoke unable to control himself, causing him to speak a bit hesitantly.

"Sorry about that. Red uh... don't take this the wrong way, but what's up with your eyes?"

Red stayed still for a minute or two, before looking at Blaze. She didn't answer, nor did she do anything except give an unnerving grin. Red was balancing on her heels and rose to stand. Returning the knife in her boot, the grin was still painted on her face. Red crept closer, a glint in her eye. A quiet laugh escaped her throat.

"Why? Are you afraid? Are you going to run?" Her voice was barely a whisper, with an edge.

Thinking for a moment, Icy placed is index finger to his chin. Shrugging he lets his icy blue irises meet hers before speaking with a devilish smile on his face.

"Nah. I've seen much scarier then you. I like seeing those eyes. They're uncommon, exotic. Besides, I owe you from not letting me die. I'm not sure I'd enjoy that. And I have a feeling that angels in heaven aren't as pretty as you."

With a dark laugh Icy speaks once more returning to the subject.

"So would you like to tell me what you were doing crawling on the floor?"

"Really now?" Red said sarcastically. She moved back and sat on the bed, gazing expressionlessly at the dying flame.

"I wouldn't say that," she spoke quietly. "I would have killed you any second. And trust me, you would have not enjoyed that."

Her eyes glazed over, and the flame grew higher. Red let out a sad sigh and looked away.

She smiled ruefully. "I may have misplaced my sunglasses. Not only that, I noticed Zero is gone. He may have gone out for a little stroll..."

Red pondered over the possibilites.

Noticing her more solemn expression, Icy placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Much calmer than before he was drugged he lets a warm smile come over his face. Speaking to her, he smiles knowing he had developed enough of a bond to care for her well being as she did his.

"Sunglasses can be easily replaced and should you so choose I could help you find Zero. I'd offer to look myself, but quite frankly, I'm not familiar with the hospital, even if it is lighter outside this room. Plus this wound still needs some time to heal, Although I think I might be able to use my blade. What's say we search for our little MIA?"

"No need. Zero disappears sometimes. He always finds me in the end. I just wonder how he escaped..." Red paused, thinking.

"He's a smart cub. He can easily slip from building to building without being seen by hybrids, so I don't worry that much."

Red stared blankly over his shoulder. It was true. The two have been learning each other tricks ever since years ago. Zero learned when to do this and that, how to kill and fend for himself; though he prefers to be by Red. Red learned to live like a cat. She'll be as silent and still as a corpse, and react on instinct.

Shrugging, Blaze removes his hand with a quick smile. Seeing her so calm reassured him that she would be fine. Standing the male took the hilt of his blade before speaking.

"Well if you're sure. I'm going to go to town to collect some things. Did you need anything? When the professor left me, he left me with a vast fortune, so money is no object."

"Oh please. Centennial is in complete shambles. No good person is alive to take your money. We're all either running for our lives, or looking for a way to survive in this hell city. Just slip in, take what you want, then slip back out. However, you might want to be sure no hybrids are tailing after you."

Red hopped from the bed and disappeared into the next room, it being much brighter.

"I was going to head off to the University. I don't want to stay in this hospital anyway. Right next to the Cemetery, you know?"
