| Centennial. Population: 478. Most of the city has been wiped out after 2013. The end of days. All Hell had broken loose. For years prior to 2013, a group of scientists had been working on a confidential experiment to improve the human race - the Human Genome Project. Their first successful prototype was a half man half gorilla. The scientists were ecstatic. It was like a modern-day Planet of the Apes. But, they didn’t stop there. They spliced other animal genes with more men and soon women. Some were successful others were not.
Years after years, their “experiments” at Cypgroup Ventures became a bit more gruesome than the last. The new creatures being pumped with all sorts of chemicals, hormones and even drugs. The scientists were playing God and each and every one knew it. But that didn’t stop them in the least. They continued to splice genes left and right, going on power trips with every successful hybrid they have created. Each experiment was kept in holding cells for observation twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. But the year 2013 would change all of that.
A militant anti-Genome group got word of the company doing experiments on humans and animals. They had no idea how bad these experiments were. They stormed the company headquarters, demanding to be let in. They were refused entry. That didn’t stop them as one of the members took drastic measures to ensure entry. He cut out the special barcode that was tattooed on each employee at the company and used that to gain access and set the experiments free. The hybrids - as two surviving members referred to them - were furious and mauled a majority of the militants. The survivors only came out with scratches and bite marks. They didn’t think anything of it.
No more than a week after the hybrids were set free, the survivors became deathly ill. Coughing, sore throat, chills - soon jaundice and a high fever. A few days after the illness set in, they passed away. That’s when the virus kicked in. Both of them became reanimated so to speak and began to attack their loved ones. They were zombies. This virus spread quickly and within three months, well over ¾ of Centennial’s population were zombies or killed. The hybrids were still running loose in the city, making their homes in abandoned buildings and waiting to prey upon what survivors were left.
2020. Seven years after the massive outbreak. The survivors are a few handfuls of men and women against Cypgroup Ventures once word got out that they were behind the hybrids and the outbreak. Their first priority is to survive. Their second priority is to wipe out the zombies and hybrids one death at a time. It isn’t easy, but it’s their way of life from now on.
